Visa Requirements for UK and US passport holders:
UK and US passport holders require visas for both business and tourist trips.
Important Information:
Passport must be valid for at least 6 months.
To obtain permission to visit Tibet, the traveler should contact the
Tibetan tourist office in Lhasa (Fax: 00 86 891 6334632. Telex: 68012
CTTB CN).
Transit without a visa is not possible.
Travelling to Hong Kong is not the same as to China and has different rules for visas.
For ALL nationals requiring visas:
Business/Tourist
- Application form
- Supplimentary form for all non-UK passport holders
- ATH order form
- Passport (must have 6 months validity on it beyond the visa expiry date)
- Photograph
- Hotel and Flight Bookings (tourist only)
- Invitation (Business only) either from a Chinese Authorized Unit or a Confirmation letter of Invitation issued by an authorized unit in China here is an example.Or a letter from a Chinese company on headed paper and should include the full name and passport number of the invitee as well as the purpose and duration of the visit.
- For non UK passport holders who are required to have visas to be in the UK; we need to show this as well, (even if it is in a cancelled passport)
- French passport holders must also provide the original invitation letter, flight details, Hotel confirmation, and a day to day itinerary of activities being undertaken in China, each page must be signed and dated.
Time required:
The only services available are now 3 or 4 working day days services. Same day services are no longer available, the 3 day service is only available if we apply before 11.00.
Minimum Validity:
3 months from date of issue.
Charges:
We have to pay the visa centre as well as the embassy now so they costs will comprise of our agency fee, visa centre fee and consulate fee.
ATH fee:
- £90+VAT (£108 inc VAT)
Visa centre fee:
- £30 + VAT per passport (£40 + VAT in the case of a three working day service).
Consulate fees:
UK passport holders
- Single entry £30
- Double entry £45
- 6 month multiple entries £90
- 1 Year multiple entries £180
US passport holders:
- All visas are £70
All other passport holders
- Single entry £20
- Double entry £30
- 6 Month multiple entries £40
- 1 Year multiple entries £60
The consulate will also charge an extra £15 for a three day service on top of the prices shown above.
